Matt's first GNC Expert Class career podium in Lima, OH! The last weekend in June meant back to one of my favorite tracks on the schedule! After just missing the podium here last year I felt pretty good that I could do it this year. I qualified 6th, 8th, and 9th in the three sessions, and then my good cushion Harley blew up on the last lap of qualifying. It wasn’t good at all, but managed to be a blessing in disguise. I was in the last heat race, and it was a tough one! I got off the line horrible, and was about 7th or 8th on the first lap. I worked my way up through, and got by Carr and Pearson with about two to go. I was pretty excited because this put me second in the heat and in another Dash! However, I managed to finish in my usual spot in the dash, a lonely 6th place. I was excited for the 25 lap main where I would have enough time to actually get up front. I got off the line horribly, and was around 9th to 10th on lap one. I worked my way all the way up through, and managed to get into third. I was excited the last few laps, and soon enough I was on my way to my first GNC podium! After celebrating with my family and girlfriend, we were all pretty tired and excited. It was great to see all the people who were excited for us, and it was definitely a very memorable experience!
Thanks again to all my great sponsors: Mack Daddy Racing, White’s HD, SNIP, Silkolene, Shoei, Tsubaki, K&N, Moose Racing, EBC, Motion Pro, Tuff Plates, Weiss Racing, Boughner Suspension, R&D Spring, Webcam, Millenium Technologies, Saddlemen,Mikuni, CP Pistons, Works Connection, Cometic, Chicken Hawk Racing, Vortex, Mr Sign and SuperTrapp.
Congrats to Matt, as well as his parents, Guy and Rachel Weidman, for all their hard work.

White’s Harley Davidson to sponsor Matt Weidman #20
Joe and Donna White own two Harley Davidson Dealerships in Pennsylvania, White’s Harley Davidson and Iron Valley HD. The Whites are not only huge flat track fans, but avid motorcyclist. While visiting with them in the pits at the Daytona Short track, Donna said she was watching the weather and when she saw the snow had subsided Thursday morning, they jumped on their Harleys and rode to Florida for the races. They have sponsored their own team in Professional flat track in the past and last season stepped back to build a brand new facility. In 2009 the Whites helped Matt out with his Harley parts credit and for 2010 have stepped up to help him through their dealership.
Matthew in his first year as a GNC in 2008 finished 12th in the twins series and in his second year, finished 8th in the twins class. The Whites have been watching Matthew since he won the Pro Expert Championship at 16 years old in 2007. Joe personally helped us with Matt’s XR750 in the pits at Hagerstown in 2007, and this began the friendship. Matt went on to win that night and we were very grateful for the extra set of hands!
Matthew is very fortunate to have found a Harley Dealer who is both from the Northeast area and a big fan of flat track. If you are from the Northeast, stop in and meet the Whites. They are friendly, fun, and genuine motorcycle enthusiasts. Check out their dealerships at: www.whitesharley.com and www.ironvalleyh-d.com and when you need a new bike, clothing, parts or service, give them a call.

Julian and Tonja Robertson are the founders of SNIP (Spay Neuter Indiana Pets, Inc.) which provides high quality / low cost spay neuter for dogs, cats and feral cats. www.spayneuterindianapets.com is the organization’s website and is loaded with information on the services they provide. They are a Not for Profit organization and sell delicious handmade chocolates to raise money towards expenses.
Julian is very involved in racing of a different kind, he is an engineer at Chip Ganassi Racing. Tonja first attended Grand National motorcycle races years ago at the famous Indy mile and now both her and Julian have become Flat track fans. They were interested in helping out a young, up and coming rider, who had the ability to race up front with the big dogs! They attended the Dayton ½ mile race and were impressed with Matt’s finishes. After speaking with Matt in the pits, they were taken with his outgoing, friendly, mannerism and contacted him late in 2009. He then met with Julian and Tonja a couple of times on his way to George Mack’s house this winter and they offered to help him with his twins team for 2010.
Julian’s schedule with Ganassi Racing is extremely busy, so they will only be able to attend a few GNC races, but are excited to cheer on their new rider. They have offered to help promote both Matt and Flat track with a SNIP fan club; called the SNIP Pet Crew. Matthew will be selling T-shirts, attending SNIP functions, and will meet & greet fans at a Local Indy restaurant before the Indy Mile weekend. Tonja is also busy planning some outings for him with a local radio station and Harley Davidson Dealers around Indianapolis.
Both Matt and his parents are grateful for passionate fans like Julian and Tonja, who support not just an individual racer, but the whole sport of Professional Flat track. Please visit their website: www.spayneuterindianapets.com and support their cause by trying the handmade chocolates!
